This is another example of an interface written in Visual Basic. This is the
main screen for a PC based machine control system that tests the vacuum power and
calculates motor efficiency of vacuum cleaner motors. The system interfaces
to the many devices listed below:
- Parker AT6400 stepper Motor Controller. Axis 1 - Variac, Axis 2 - Orifice
Size, Axis 3 - Engage Orifice.
- Magtrol Power Analyzer - IEEE 488 controlled. Readings for
volts, current, and watts.
- Omega Analog Barometric Pressure Sensor.
- Omega CIO-DAS802-16, 8 Channel Analog Input Board.
- Omega Temperature Transmitter, RS232 communication.
- Monarch Instruments Speed Meter, RS232 Communication.
- Hard Copy Printout of Completed Test
- Data Logging Test Results to Hard Drive
A motor is placed on the vacuum chamber and the motor leads are connected to
the Power Analyzer. The operator enters all of the test information and
then starts the test. The motor ramps up to voltage and then readings are
taken for all of the orifice sizes selected. Using the data collected, the
system corrects for standard conditions and calculates vacuum power and motor
efficiency.
